What do you want from your content marketing blog, anyway?
Of course there are more things to content marketing than just blogging, but business blogging takes significant investment. We feel it’s worth taking a post to review the why and what about your content marketing blog.
Why do it? You can get plenty of reasons for blogging by checking out our previous blog posts, or looking at what other content marketing guys are saying. But, to put a fine point on it, the why–specifically–that drives your online content marketing, is what we’re looking into here.
When you are creating deep content for your business’s marketing plan, a blog might be a no-brainer, but that doesn’t mean you should stop there. Take a moment to review the goal of your business blogging before throwing some words at the internet.
Is the goal of your SEO blog to grow your platform as an industry leader? Or answer convoluted questions about your business? Maybe your creation of content is for showcasing a specific product, or to gather a community to your cause. Whatever the reason or reasons, that should dictate what kind of content you use.
Make yourself a list of questions to ask before building your content marketing to make sure your blog is on the right track. Then ask yourself about how your blog lives up to those answers. If you get this rhythm going before every post, your digital content marketing will be spot on.
As for your answers, keep in mind that not every post has to live up to the same answers every time. By varying the goal of your business blogging slightly every tenth post or so, you can widen the net you cast with your content. One caveat, however, to this strategy is be sure to stay with one goal for more than two or three posts. At least 8 of your consecutive posts should be aiming toward a single goal. This creates enough content around the topic to gather SEO bots and showcase your knowledge. Not to mention it will prevent your audience from getting whiplash.
