Is Voicemail Becoming Obsolete?
Use social media and digital media channels to reach me – don’t leave a voicemail
Lessons from Lonelygirl15 Content is still KING
I was in Los Angeles a few days ago, having had the chance to be the best man in rock-superstar Dave Ghazarian’s wedding… It was an awesome time but that’s another story for another day (wedding was beautiful, btw). The point of this blog post is actually what happened on the flight back from LA.
I was sitting on a very full flight wondering who would sit down next to me. Much to my surprise and delight, it was Greg Goodfried!
Who the heck is Greg Goodfried? you say…valid question. I actually didn’t know either at that moment. Then Greg starts to tell me about how in 2006 he and his business partner, Miles Beckett, hatched an idea to put a show on YouTube. They pooled a little money, casted for it and found … Read More »
Getting Creative: Sponsoring Social Media at the eduWEB Conference 2009
I love conferences. They are a great place to network and you can learn a ton from the sessions and panels. Not to mention they are usually in a pretty cool location. However, most conferences have this uncomfortable vendor / patron thing going on. The vendors sit around in their booths hoping someone will actually stop by who’s interested and the patrons stroll the vendor area wondering what they are going to do with all those pens.
So…in an effort to not stand around in a booth, throwing pens at passers by, we decided to do something a little creative this year! Working with Shelley Wetzel from the eduWEB conference, we teamed up with Jadu and are sponsoring some Social Media at this year’s conference! We tracked down a couple college students from Read More »
Suspended by Twitter PART 2 The Recap
For those of you who missed my earlier blog post, I discovered recently that my personal twitter account @tom8williams, had been suspended by Twitter without an explanation. I am happy to say that I was back in the twitterverse after several hours, but the event caused me to take pause and ponder the event. It really felt like someone reached in my pocket and stole my cell phone! I didn’t realize how much I depend on Twitter until it was taken away from me. (If you want to get the scoop on the Twitter Snafu that caused thousands of people like me to get suspended by accident, check out Mashable’s post here)
I wanted to give a SHOUT OUT to all my tweeps who retweeted my blog post yesterday and for those of you who were … Read More »
Social Media Experiment: #NACAC08
Did you stop by the InnoGage booth at NACAC this year? NO??? That’s funny…me neither.
The InnoGage team decided to get a little nuts at NACAC this year. Instead of putting up a booth and waiting for people to walk by, we decided to be the eyes and ears of hundreds of people both at the conference and across the country. The InnoGage crew split up and attended sessions that covered Social Media, Recruiting strategy and other valuable Web2.0-ish information. We listened intently and pushed out bits of valuable information through our mobile devices utilizing twitter. If you’re confused, let me break it down for you.
I walk into a session about “social media in higher ed” and sit down. The Panel begins talking and I begin typing bits of interesting information … Read More »
