Responsive design is quite simply the future of the mobile web.
In the past, a website was designed for basically one screen size. Then people began surfing the web on their smart phones and we began designing a separate “mobile theme” for the phones. Next people began surfing the web on their iPads and tablets and got pissed off when their screen rendered the mobile theme with those big horizontal bars!
Instead of producing a separate theme with it’s own content for the mobile web user, responsive design simply allows your website or blog to respond automatically to whatever screen size it is confronted with: laptop, iPad, smart phone – even whether or not the user is reading the content vertically or landscaped. Although you can slim down the content available – I don’t know why you would want to. Just because I’m on my mobile device doesn’t mean I need less information.
If you are on a mobile device you will notice how beautifully this page and the entire site is rendering. That’s the power of responsive design.

Shrink your browser window by grabbing the right most edge of the screen and slowly drag it to the left, thereby decreasing the browser screen size. Do this from our home page so you can see the images re-size and re-order themselves to adapt to your browser. It’s pretty cool.
